Brief Bio-data of Mr. Myo Myint Maung

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Nepal, Mr. Myo Myint Maung has worked as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information (January 2017-May 2024).

From April 2010 to January 2017, he served as Director-General of the Minister’s Office; Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Director (Copy Right and Registration Division); General Manager (Printing and Publishing Department) as well as Editor-in-Chief of Myanmar Serpay Beikman (about two and a half years). While serving as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, he also served as Director-General of Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) for a year.

Earlier, he served in Myanmar Navy up till the rank of Commander until April 2010. And then, he was transferred to the Ministry of Information.

He received several professional trainings, both at home and abroad, and participated in various regional and international forums including ASEAN Summits and related meetings, as a member of Myanmar delegation and as Myanmar SOMRI leader.

He received a Bachelor’s degree of science from Myanmar’s Defense Service Academy (D.S.A.) in 1991.

Mr. Myo Myint Maung has received the Outstanding Public Service Medal (2015), the Administrative Excellence (First Grade) Medal (2022), and Wunna Kyaw Thing Medal (2023) for his outstanding public service.

He spends his leisure time by reading, writing short stories and articles and composing poems. He has already published four books of short stories and poems.

He is married to Mrs. Khin Myat Myat Htway, and they have a son.
