Ambassador call on Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal

Myanmar Ambassador H.E Lwin Oo paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Hon'ble Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal on 25 October 2016. Mr. Yar Zar Min, Counsellor from Myanmar Embassy, Mr. Gahendra Rajbhandarei, Chief of Division, Asia and South East Asia and the Pacific Division and other officials from the Nepal MoFA also attended this meeting. During the meeting, Ambassador expressed on bilateral relations between the two countries and countries' people, connection with the religious, the condition of pilgrims who are coming to Lumbini as well.
In addition, H.E Lwin Oo said that Himalay Airlines plans to establish direct flight from Kathmandu to Yangoon, its process is going to be finished and seem to be started before at the end of November this year. Thus, it can promote the two countries tourism industry. With regard the meeting, the Ambassador explain the current situation of the Rakhine State in terms of the attacks on the Border Guard Police posts in Maungdaw Township- 9 th October 2016.
The minister said that Nepal also condemn all kind of attacks and terrorist activities. He also hope that Myanmar Government can solve this situation peacefully and fairly. Also Hon'ble Minister express to promote bilateral relation concerning with direct flight, visa matters and exchanges of visit.
Ambassador call on Army Chief
Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal H.E Lwin Oo visited Nepal Army Headquarters and his delegation were received by senior officer at the Headquarters on September 29 2016.
After arriving Headquarters Ambassador signed the guestbook and proceeded to pay a courtesy call to the Nepal Army (NA) Chief of Army Staff(CoAS), General Rajendra Chhetri at NA Headquarters.
The Ambassador told the Chief of Army Staff that he was "Honoured" by the reception given to him on what is his first time visit to the Headquarters.
Matters related to public relation, issues of bilateral and multi interest were discussed during the meeting.
Also in attendance were Mr.Yar Zar Min, Counsellor from Myanmar Embassy and Senior official from Nepal Army.
Ambassador Inaugurates Community Building
Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal H.E U Lwin Oo, members of Nepal-Myanmar Friendship Council and well-known artists, Composer U Win Min Htwe and Singer She, from Myanmar jointly inaugurated the newly constructed “Nepal Myanmar Metta 2015” Community Building, Dhada Gaun village in Bhaktapur District on 23rd September 2016.
The Building was built with the donations and contributions of Myanmar peoples and benefactors from Nepal-Myanmar Friendship Council-NMFC and will serve as a school for the local children and even as a shelter if disaster strikes again. The building is worth Hundred million Kyats (Myanmar currency) equivalent to eighty thousands US Dollars.
The story of the donation was begun with the worst natural disaster struck Nepal on 25th of April 2015. Almost immediately after the first earthquake struck, NMFC had initiated immediate the relief efforts. A well-known composer and a member of NMFC, Mr. Win Min Htwe and colleagues appealed to those in their personal network – many of them musicians – to donate to the Nepal earthquakes. Mr. Win Min Htwe and his colleagues flew to Kathmandu in May 2015 and during their visit to Nagarkot, they thought-out ways not only to meet villagers’ immediate needs, but also to provide longer-term support. With these things on mind, they decided to build a school in Dhada Gaun village for the local populace.
In the past year, the Government of Myanmar provided foods, medicines and other assistance in two consignments by the Myanmar Air Force’s cargo plane as a humanitarian assistance for the victims of earthquake of April 2015 in Nepal. Myanmar citizens had also donated more than US$ Hundred Thousand to assist relief efforts in Nepal, and about one thousand families have benefited as a result.
Ambassador call on H.E. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal
Kathmandu, September 21
On September 21, Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal H.E Lwin Oo visited Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and paid a courtesy call on Mr. Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
During the meeting held at the minister's office, matters related to the strengthening close diplomatic relations between Nepal and Myanmar, cooperatives in religious affairs and expanding mutual cooperation and benefits of both the countries were discussed.
On the occasion, Ambassador Lwin Oo expressed his strong hope to Establishment of directive flight connection between Kathmandu and Rangoon, Myanmar.
Minister Mr. Jiwan Bahadur Shahi thanked the Myanmar Ambassador , Myanmar Government and people of Myanmar for giving humanitarian assistants while Nepal had suffered 2015 April earthquake. Furthermore he expressed that Nepal Government had been trying to extend flight connection with other countries including Myanmar and he will be tried for the best with his effort.
Also in attendance were Mr. Yar Zar Min, Counsellor from Myanmar and Mr. Danduraj Ghimire, Joint Secretary from (MoCTCA), Nepal.
Myanmar Embassy congratulates newly elected-Prime Minister
The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kathmandu wishes to extend heartfelt congratulations to H.E. Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal on his swearing-in as the new Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 4 August 2016.
It is convinced that under the wise leadership of the Prime Minster Dahal, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal will continue to enjoy peace, prosperity and development in the years to come.
The Ambassador, officials and members of Embassy look forward to working closely with the new Government of Nepal for further enhancement of the traditional friendship and close cooperation between Myanmar and Nepal.
The Embassy also believe that the bilateral relations based on Buddhism and mutual understanding as well as the traditional bonds of friendship between Myanmar and Nepal will be further consolidated in the years ahead.
